Juliet Strang, Principal Designate

Juliet StrangJuliet Strang brings 19 years of successful experience as a senior leader in three different large schools. She was headteacher of Villiers High School for fourteen years, deputy headteacher at Cranford Community School in Hounslow and senior teacher at George Abbot School in Surrey.

Juliet has a BA degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and an MA in Science Education from King’s College, London University.

She has published a number of papers in academic and  curriculum journals and two books: the most recent of which “ASK: how to teach learning to learn  in the secondary school” is based on her innovative work with colleagues at Villiers. She is and has been a member of a number of national committees including the Royal Society Education Committee, the Committee of Enquiry into the Changing Learner Experience and she has worked as a School Improvement Partner and as a consultant to the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.

The University’s expertise and experience in educational research will provide the Academy and its staff with the most up-to-date knowledge on education and school improvement, and learners will benefit from cutting-edge developments in these areas.

Hull City Council

Hull City Council is committed to working with the Academy and its sponsors to develop close links with local primary schools and the community, achieved through curriculum developments, the behaviour partnership and support for professional development through the planned Children’s Workforce Development Centre.

Wyke Sixth Form College

The College will support the development of the subject specialisms and ensure that students have the opportunity to progress to A level and other Level 3 courses at Wyke.

The College has particular expertise and experience in project management, having recently completed a complete re-development, and will provide advice on independent governance for the Academy.

Wilberforce Sixth Form College

Wilberforce Sixth Form College will contribute knowledge and expertise to the development of the new Academy in the areas of curriculum development, technology implementation, finance, personnel and estates management, and advice and guidance
